No sound from Subwoofer in some games

I've an 5.1 surround system that I can't get to work properly with some games. In some games like Far Cry 4, Advanced Warfare, Battlefield 4 it works fine. But in AC: Syndicate, Fifa 15 (when you kick the ball), GTA V, Metro Last Night, the subwoofer sound is inexistent. What could be the issue?

Note: The subwoofer doesn't work for stereo output unless I put it in ProLogic Mode. But in 5.1 movies it works perfectly fine in normal mode.

Note 2: I don't use the center speaker ( I don't like the way the sound comes from the center speaker)

There probably isn't that much bass in those games. Subwoofers only come in at very low frequencies. Seeing as it seems to function ok with other games and movies I reckon it's working correctly
