no sound have to update and restart again and again

i lost sound on my laptop.. so I updated sound driver and restarted laptop so it has sound again but whenever i shut down my laptop and use it, it does not have sound again so I need to update it again and again. Please help

on reboot when there no sound go under windows sound manager make sure the sound card is set as the default output. with the newer nvidia and amd drivers they install hdmi sound drivers. these drivers can make the hdmi port the default sound output port.
