Question No sound/not going to sleep after fitting new battery ?

I just swapped out a new battery into my Mid 2012 MacBook Pro and now I get no sound (the sound icon at the top is grayed out) and the only sound option is digital output. Also, when I close the laptop itself, it doesn't go to sleep. The screen and the Apple logo on the back just stay on. Help please!

Check the lid angle sensor and battery indicator assembly.
