no sound, not playing cd/dvd

just finished installing windows 8 upgrade (from XP)

speakers connected, cd/dvd connected.

no sound.

cd/dvd player does not autostart and does not play.

I think I need drivers but could not find a sound specific gigabyte 880GA-UD3H

my cd/dvd player is Samsung SH-222BB/BEBE. I could not find a driver for that either.

You can try using the audio driver on gigabyte's website for windows 7 32 bit: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3425#dl

Sometimes windows update finds drivers for you too. Try that first.
