No Sound on ASRock 970 Extreme3

New build. At first would not post with another brand of RAM. Got RAM from recommended list and reset CMOS. No problems posting since.

Volume Mixer shows the music is pumping, but nothing comes from speaker or headphones except little pops.

RealTek HD Audio Manager recognizes when speaker/headphones are plugged in.

Device Manager shows 2 items under Sound, video and game controllers: High Definition Audio Device (microsoft) and Realtek High Definition Audio. It says both are working properly. Nvidia audio previously appeared here as well. I uninstalled Realtek and Nvidia and system automatically re-installed Realtek.

Mobo: ASRock Extreme3 P1.70

CPU: AMD FX 6300 Black Edition 3.5GHz Six-Core

RAM: Kingston 8GB DDR3 – 1600 (on tested list for mobo)

GPU: GTX 660 OC 2048MB

HDD: Barracuda 1TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal

Case: Antec Three Hundred One

Power: CX Series CX430M 430 Watt ATX Modular

DVD: ASUS DRW-24B1ST Internal DVDR/RW Burner

OS: Win 7 64-bit

I would RMA the board. I recently sent an ASRock MB-970EX4 board back for the same reason. Rear speaker jacks worked, but the FP Audio header did not.

Yep: good call clutchc.
I exchanged the motherboard and had no problem with the new one.
