No sound on computer

Hello,
How do I restore sound to the two speakers connected to my dell desktop with the windows 7 OS?

Go to Device Manager (Control Panel) and disable (not delete) the sound option. Then restart the computer. The computer will 'find' the speakers and install the driver and enable them.

Adjust the volume on the speakers as well as the volume on the specific program you are running. Make sure it is not muted.

We discovered that the sound dial on the speaker was turned off when the speaker was accidentally tipped over. We were not aware that there was a separate volume control on the speaker, but our 57 year old son pointed this out to us. Problem solved!
