No sound over Mini Hdmi?

I have a lenovo laptop running windows 10, im getting no sound over the mini hmdi port,only video, my brother has the exact same laptop, he gets both sound and video, ive tried messing around with uninstalling and reinstalling software in the device manager but no luck...

any help?

Open sound properties and set teh default device to whatever you're poutputting to(all needs to be already connected)

I have the hdmi cable plugged in but it still sais 'not plugged in' under Digital Audio (HDMI)

Doesn't have to be "Digital Audio (HDMI)". it can be the name of your actual TV. Beside the SPDIFs and Speakers, is there nothing else active?
