After re-installing a new hard drive and installing necassary drivers, I can't get audio from the ports on my computer, and I can't input sound using a microphone either.

I have an M5A99X PRO R2.0 motherboard, I can get sound fine when plugging speakers into my monitor or so. However, plugging my speakers or headphones into any audio ports on my computer, front or rear, create an unusual buzzing noise, and no sound.

What interests me, is that when I complete processes on my computer, the buzzing noise changes. For example changing screens, typing, scrolling and adjusting volume all create buzzing fluctuations on the audio device plugged in.

I've installed Realtek, reinstalled it, reinstalled a different version, tried sound without it, however the same issue is always there. My MB worked before I installed the new hard drive, in addition I have installed all the MB drivers. I'm a little unsure. The reason I'd like to solve this is to use a headset for Skype. Currently I can only retrieve audio from my monitor.

In Device Manager, both the "AMD High Definition Audio Device" and "High Definition Audio Device" are working properly and up to date.

I have tried the front headphone port, the rear speaker port, and the front microphone port.

I have tried 2 different pairs of headphones and a set of speakers on both of the audio ports (front and rear). I have tried one headset microphone on the front microphone port. None of these work.

It's relatively new. It worked on exactly the same OS, using a different hard drive beforehand, only a couple of weeks ago. It was only bought a few weeks ago. I'm very confused as to why it doesn't work. Don't forget, I can get sound through the monitor using HDMI output.

My build:

CPU : AMD FX 9590 Eight-Core
RAM: 16GB Single-Channel DDR3
Motherboard: ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7750
HDD: Seagate 500GB (Taken from an old laptop that wouldn't boot and had broken charge ports)
PSU: EVGA G2 1000W Platinum+

Yes. The hard drive was taken from an ASUS laptop, and I reinstalled windows on it. It was previously Windows 7, I updated it to 8.
