no sound red cross on the sound icon

my windows 7 64g is presenting a red cross on top of the sound icon and it says taht i dont ave a audio device instaled

Check in Device Manager if the audio devices are there and running with no errors. Would help if you provided some details about the issue, has it every worked? What happened before it stopped working? Brand/model of the computer or motherboard?
