No sound via HDMI

Hello,
I just got my new Asus VS247H-P in the mail today and I plug it in to my laptop seeing as all my parts for my current build are not here and I have no sound. The volume icon on the task bar says ATI HDMI Output and it works with my roommates tv. Any ideas on why it isnt working with my monitor?

Never mind I figured since there was a Audio input in the back it had speakers come to find out it doesn't sad.
