Hi

I have Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER motherboard, Edifier S350DB speakers connected via optical cable and Windows 10/Windows 11. Usually the sound works good and is stable, but when I use the Netflix app (or the Disney Plus app) it immediately comes a short crackling noise and then the sound is gone. If I use Netflix or Disney Plus through a browser there is no problem with the sound.

Any advice on how to fix this is very much appreciated!

Solution
Windows 10/Windows 11
You're working with two problematic OSes on the same system? I say problematic since the OS from Microsoft since Windows 8(and above) have been nitpicky with either tinkering under the hood or dual booting. I'm assuming it's dual booting considering you mentioned it with a / to denote you have both. Can you recall which version of Windows 10 you were on, if you've moved onto Windows 11?

Which browsers have you tried to rule out the issue being the apps themselves? I'm assuming that there are no other connections made to and from the input of the speaker system apart from power and the lone optical cable(and the satellite speakers themselves), correct?

If you have the latest BIOS version on your motherboard, you could try uninstall your audio drivers and then manually reinstall the latest drivers from Gigabyte's support site for your motherboard, in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Solution
its probably because your speakers cant handle digital codecs (DTS/Dolby)
which soundcard are you using? integrated on mainboard? or something like gpu to hdmi tv and from there with optical?
if its integrated, then look in your soundcard settings for digital audio ouput default format

if its connected through TV (or similar device), then you have to set format type there aswell, set it to PCM there
