I have an .mbd zipped file and an .exe zipped file that I know beyond a doubt are trustworthy but Windows will not allow me to open them.

Popup from Windows Security says:
Windows has found that this file is potentially harmful.
To protect your computer, Windows has blocked access.

I have been following threads but can't find an answer. I can't email it to myself because I get the same message.
How can I install these programs on my new computer? Frustrated with answers that seem to have no solution. If someone has found a workaround, I would appreciate the help.

no its not antivirus that is stopping it from installing
its that (i bet) you are installing the version that is inteneded for xp.
xp's file Structure is different than vista and 7's
can you get a version for 7
or
right click and select troubleshoot compatibility

I tried this but it did not work. Thanks anyway.

This is a good possibility. I will need to contact the source or perhaps WinZip can help. Thanks for giving me some direction.

is that part of uac?

i disabled it straight away as it drives me insane

decent security e.g. antivirus,firewall ect

what anoys me most is antivirus programs that delete random files if they think its a virus

i much perfer programs like commodo/malwarebytes that ask you what you want to do

Unfortunately when I right click I do not get the same screen you do. There are no tabs, no options....just like multiple others have reported. Appreciate you trying to help.

I don't know but will check it out. Thank you.

It's on my own computer. I've never had problems installing other programs so I think it's another issue. Also multiple people have the same issue and no one has come with an answer yet. Guess I was hoping for a miracle. I used XP in the past. Now have Windows 7. That may be the problem.

Yes, it is an access file and I do have Access installed. I'm at a loss.

Found the answer through WinZip. I'm posting for others who may have the same problem in the future because finding an answer to the problem has been an extremely frustrating experience. For those who tried right clicking to unblock and discovered there was no option to do so, the process below worked for me.

ARCHIVE BLOCKED

The specified operation could not be performed because the archive was blocked by Windows Security. This may occur for archive files that were downloaded using Internet Explorer or arrived as attachments in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail, or Outlook Express. To perform the operation, you will first need to unblock the archive file.

Caution: you should be careful when unblocking an archive. Be certain that you trust the source of this archive. Do not install anything contained in an archive that was attached to an unexpected or suspicious e-mail message. See Security Hints and Tips for additional information.

Here are step by step instructions for unblocking an archive.

Note: if the archive is already open in WinZip®, close WinZip.
1.If the file is an attachment in an email message, save the attachment to a folder of your choice (example: My Documents).
2.Open the folder that contains the archive using Windows Explorer.
3.Locate the archive in Windows Explorer's file listing and right click on the archive's name in the list.
4.Click Properties in the right click shortcut menu.
5.In the General tab, click Unblock.
6.Click OK.
7.Open the archive in WinZip and perform the desired operation.
