So yeah, I just installed Windows 10 and everything is working smoothly except for my Rosewill RHTS-8206 headset. When I used Windows 7 I had drivers that came with a gui which gave me customization/eq options but now that I don't have that everything doesn't sound right. There are no Windows 10 drivers available, and when I try using the 7/8/8.1 drivers I get an error saying wrong OS. My inbound is passable, but my friends say my microphone is garbled and almost unrecognizable. I feel like i'm screwed and need to go back to 7 or get a new headset (which is probably the better option, this headset is terrible), if anyone had a similar problem and fixed it I'd love to hear about it. Thank you.

Since Rosewill is a second tier vendor, it's unlikely you're going to see windows 10 drivers for that device anytime soon. If it's essential to have the device functional you'll probably want to go back to your previous OS until a later date when the bugs have been more fully worked out of the current Win10 release, and considering it's still in preview testing it's not surprising, nor should it be. As was the case with Windows 8 when it released, there may be a whole lot of hardware that doesn't get newer, compatible drivers until developers get around to releasing them.

Second tier manufacturers like Rosewill are a lot less likely to be on a similar time table for driver releases as first tier manufacturers like Corsair, Razer, AMD, NVidia and others are. They simply don't have the same resources and generally assume you'll be using their hardware with the operating systems they were designed for, not newer versions not even in full release yet.

Yes there is currently no driver support but you can get your headset to work I have the same ones, go to control panel then go to devices and printers usb sound device, and setup there, it will let you choose the setup quad, 5.1 or 7.1 . if you upgraded from windows 7 or windows 8 or 8.1 and had the rosewill drivers installed after you do what i said the control panel for the headset will work again.

Yes, you did.

had the rosewill drivers installed

And I'm not sure if this was an upgrade or a clean install, but I suppose that would clearly make a difference since your premise was based on already having the drivers installed. I'm assuming since he said he can't install the drivers, that he did not.

If the program complaining about Windows 10 being the wrong OS is the driver installer app, you can always try running the executable for it in Compatibility Mode for Windows 7, 8, or 8.1. Might make it happy.

If that doesn't work and since you implied that you wanted to get a new headset anyway, this might be a good excuse to do just that.

if he upgraded without uninstalling the drivers it should work. it did for me on 2 comps one with windows 7 64 pro and other from laptop with windows 8.1. plus he did not say he upgraded or clean install but if he did what I said it will work if he upgraded. besides with early version of any windows release if you upgrade from another version usually less issues than with a clean install at least until a few updates.

I was able to get mine to work by uninstalling all drivers, repeatedly. Work your way into the Device Manager (buried now... further than it was in Win 8/8.1), select USB Multi Channel Sound Device / USB Sound Device, uninstall (check the box to uninstall files, if prompted), scan for new devices (the PC-image button at the right-most end of the row of buttons near the top of the Device Manager window), uninstall... Repeat this process until the driver is a 2015 Microsoft driver, which appears to work the same as the previous Win 7 driver, when you go to configure the headset in Playback Devices. I hope this works for you!

I have the same headset. Just download the windows 8/8.1 drivers from the website, then navigate to Device Manager. Select Upgrade Drivers and choose Browse. Then select the Windows 8.1 folder from the extracted zip you downloaded from Rosewill and you should be good to go. From there on out you can just go to Playback Devices, and click Configure on the headset and set it to 5.1, 7.1 or whatever you please. =]

EDIT: My vibration works too! =D

I have the same headphones, everything is working fine with me (Windows 10) I just plugged it and went to my sound config that windows comes with (right click the sound icon bottom right of your screen) I adjusted it to 5.1 sound manually (not hard)
The only thing I cant get is the software (Virtual software that allows you to get 7.1) Rumble feature works great.

Is it possible to change the volume range on the headphones? I find that the lowest volume setting is still too loud on my headphones. I didn't have this issue with windows 7 when the headphone driver worked.
