Updating to latest BIOS v1704 from old v0211 failed to POST VGA w/ ASUS Strix GTX-1080-Ti on ASUS P9X79-E WS after restart. Checked multiple slots, nothing. Hangs w/ Q-Code 62 & VGA LED on. Swapped for GTX-680, post & completed updating BIOS but needed changes to proceed even after F5 default. I kept getting config messages on another 680 b4 I can boot to Win10. Eventually worked, even in SLI. it 1080-Ti in different system, loaded fine. Swapped for ASUS Strix 980-Ti, no POST, as before, multiple slots. Back to 680, loads to Windows 10 fine.
Rolled back to v0211 and working as before. 980-Ti's singles & in SLI fine as well. in multiple slots. I was only updating to use a new E5-1680-V2 & Boot from ASUS Hyper M.2 X4
Did I miss something? Is it a PCIE-3.0 config setting? With 680, it saw PCIE nVME in slot 1 with boot options . Windows 10 , UEFI & Legacy.
CPU in at time was E5-2620 but since: E5-1660. & 32Gb (4x8G) Corsair Vengeance 1866 XMP + Performance Mode.
