I was installing a hyper 212 cooler on my z170x motherboard and I spilled the thermal paste that came with the cooler, I cleaned it and turn it on. But then it would turn on and on and off on its own, so I went and checked closer, that's when I realized that some had gotten into the socket pins. I used isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush to clean it. Now it turns on, motherboards LEDs turn on as usual, but I get no video, I tried with the Dvi from the graphics card as well as the HDMI from the motherboard and nothing. Did I fry my CPU and motherboard? Man... I got them 2 days ago, computer was running well until I tried to install the cooler.

Thermal paste is usually non conductive. Are you sure you haven't bent any of the pins out of shape during the process?

Side note: If the isopropyl is less than 99% pure it could contain conductive material and also water.

Is the CPU power cable connected?

Try resetting the BIOS (clearing CMOS). Unplug from wall outlet. Take the CMOS battery out and press power button down and hold for 20-30 seconds. Pop the battery back in and try.

Also when it boots leave it on for a few minutes and see if monitor shows anything.
