Hello. I restarted my PC after my screen blanked out in a game I was playing after changing the resolution. Then when I boot my PC, the Windows logo appears, the loading thing starts rotating, then it black screens and my monitor displays some text saying "no video avaliable".The only thing I can think of is hard drive corrupted as, whilst running, my PC almost tipped over, but I stopped it.

I will try boot the PC with another hard drive to test my theory, but thanks in advance.

Hard drive buzzing is bad, It may just be conicidental that it failed at the same time. The only thing I would say is if there is some way you can get a recovery drive going just to be sure. Or even try to boot from your original windows installation DVD.

Thanks for replying. I'm running Windows 10.

you can use the same method I showed above to get into safe mode, i just thought low res windows would work just as well.

Need to use another pc to make the installer, its really just a boot disc

Its also only way into safe mode.

Only two ways into safe mode, the boot dic you are making and through recovery menu in windows 10. There is a 3rd but you have to have it enabled already and its off by default.

use usb to boot
after the language screen, press repair this pc, not install
select troubleshoot
select advanced settings
select start up settings
select
4 Safe Mode,
5 Safe mode with networking or
6 Safe mode with command prompt

I'm setting up the boot on my laptop as we speak.

Well, I can't create on because of my usb drive, I found this:

The Sandisk Cruzer usb drives use drivers that install through windows 7 and 8 as if they were hard drives. They are not in the removable drives section and that is why it will not allow you to select it.

I found it on here - http://superuser.com/questions/957228/windows-10-media-creation-tool-we-cant-find-a-usb-flash-drive?answertab=votes#tab-top

What do I do?

I have a UEFI BIOS. The hard drive started buzzing. I think the hard drive is dead.

My original disk is for Windows 7. I also don't know the CD key.

Also - thank you very much for the help.

Run the Win 7 Disc just to make sure it will boot and show Windows Video. If it does then you know your other hardware is fine.

Then try and get that recovery USB going with someone elses computer, you may at least be able to save your data.

If not use someone elses computer to download the Windows media Creation tool

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

And create a bootable Windows 10 USB to be able to fix your install or re-install windows.

The hard drive is definitely dead. It made really high pitched squeaks and wouldn't even boot to the Windows logo.
