No video display

I have just upgraded the system from an I7 940 to an I7 980x. It starts OK and the temperature of the coolant rises to operating temp (I have an external monitor) but I get no video.
The power supply is a Truepower 1K unit. The system contains 2 x ATi Sapphire 4500 series cards, DVD reader and a Western Digital 500Gb hard disk.

buggerit, just looked at the crossfireX comparability chart and as my CPU is a later set I cant have 2 cards crosswired

Well seems to go beyond that. Took first 1 out then then other and still will not give a display.

Hmmmmm no getting much response from out there.

Put in an ASUS AMD Radeon HD 7770 and same result. The green light on the back of the card was on.

Updated the BIOS and it now runs. The strange part is that every time the machine is started now there is a long pause with a black screen then you hear a fan suddenly speed up and then the video appears. Any ideas?
