I just built my first htpc and am booting for the first time. I have the computer connected via hdmi to the hd4890. For some reason nothing is showing on the screen when I boot. the card is running, the motherboard is on, everything else seems on and connected correctly. Any suggestions on what I should do? Thanks

No, I have a gigabyte ex58-ud5 so I dont believe it has any onboard video.

Thanks for the great feedback. I looked at number two and dont see a spot on my mobo for a cpu power?

I do have the psu power hooked up, do you see anything on the board?

Yes, the 8-pin CPU power connector is located near one of the heatsinks that says Gigabyte on it. It's at the upper-left corner of the board when it's installed into the system. It will also be clearly labeled on the motherboard diagram in the owners manual.

It's labeled "ATX_12V_2X" on page 7 of your manual.

Okay, I see that. The problem is I don't see any wires that would go in there. Where would the wire be located. I looked and there is nothing from the cpu. The PSU is plugged into the power supply. Any thoughts on where this connector would be located?

"The PSU is plugged into the power supply" ?? You should have either an 8pin or 2x4pin connector coming from your power supply that will plug there, just make sure you have all the pins oriented correctly.

I think I found it, there was an 8 pin connector from the psu that connected to the mobo. That was one problem. I still need to get the dvi cable as i only have hdmi right now and understand that wont work until i get everything setup.

Thanks

I have a corsair 750x. There was only one with the 8 pins, so that is the one I used. I didnt see it marked though
