NO Video only Audio for Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 2 and Game of Thrones

I recently completed a new PC build that runs Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. I installed the realtek driver version 6017233 from the asus support website for my Asus Z97-A motherboard, which began giving me sound problems when I installed Far Cry 3 from my Steam account.

When I attempted to see if the problem was just with that game or all of them I opened up The Walking Dead Season 2 which had the same sound quality problems and when I attempted to adjust video resolution settings so the game would fit my TV screen the game went black screen on me. I had still had the audio but no video when I closed and started the game back up. So I went to another Telltale game, Game of Thrones, and got the same audio quality problem, then the same no video output problem when I adjusted the video resolution settings. This did not however happen with the Walking Dead Season 1 which I was able to adjust, the same sound problem, but video was fine.

I then uninstalled the Realtek sound card driver from my PC. This did take care of the sound quality problems on all games but not the video output problems for those two games. So uninstalled and redownloaded and installed both games from my Steam account. When I booted them back up there was still no video output on either game, only sound.

I installed a different version of the realtek driver, version 6017344, which hasn't given me any sound quality problems so far. But I still have no video output for Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 2 or Game of Thrones?

What happens when you set the games to lower resolution, do they run fine? You have the resolution set to the TV's native resolution and refresh rate is set for what it can use? Try different resolutions in the game and see when exactly it goes black.

Yeah I performed a clean install of the nvidia drivers which includes an HD audio sound driver. But that didn't take care of the problem.

Asus supports staff seemed to think the problem was the games were designed to be played with 5.1 surround sound speakers and I wasn't I was just using my TV speakers. But that wasn't an issue when I played them on my old PC.

Seems like you have a few issues here, sound and video, or only one? Did you make sure you set the game resolution and refresh rate to match the TV?

From your post the sound is no longer an issue but no video is. What type of monitor are you using and what is your full system spec including video card and CPU and what resolution are you trying to set in the games?

Video works fine outside of those two games? How about other games?

Yeah initially sound was the only issue, but not just games. Anything with sound including streaming and other downloaded media, there would be loud crackling and people's voices were barely audible, if at all after I downloaded Far Cry 3 from my Steam account.. So I started checking all games this was the first time I started The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones since downloading them onto the machine. The games started in a lower resolution and in windowed mode along with having the same audio problem with everything else. So I went into the options menu to adjust the games to a higher resolution and into full screen mode to match the TVs screen size, when the video setting changes were applied they instantly when black screen on me. With those two games but not the Walking Dead Season 1.

After that I uninstalled the Realtek driver and the sound problem went away with everything. When I tried booting those games back up the audio problem was gone but there was still no video on both of them. Uninstall and reinstalling the games, refreshing Steam's files, and uninstall and reinstalling the Nvidia drivers failed to fix this problem. It remains only a problem with those two games no others and my audio problems are fixed as well. Other games I've play tested on this machine are Counter Strike: GO, Total War: Rome II, Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, Toy Soldiers; Complete, and as I mentioned The Walking Dead Season One.

Specs are Thor V2 full tower case, EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5, Intel i5-4690k Devil's Canyon Quad Core 3.5 GHz, Asus Z97-A motherboard, 2 8GB HyperX Fury Series DDR3 1600 SDRAM(in the first and third MB slots), Rosewill Valens-600 600W power supply, and a Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SATA III internal.

For a display I have the video card connected to the HDMI port of my 42" Panasonic Viera plasma TV. The same display I used on my old PC where both The Walking Dead Season 2 and Game of Thrones gave me no video problems. But that machine has an AMD video card.

I cant reset them to anything there's no picture. I can't see the settings. My guess is that Steam is downloading my cloud saves onto the game which includes my settings changes on there?

FYI I dont know why your last post is selected as best answer? I selected quote text and for some reason when the page reloaded you response was highlighted green as best answer?

I wonder if it stays black screen because Steam Cloud Saves is importing the saved settings changes. If I was to delete that file maybe the game would start back up in low resolution and in windowed mode as it originally did when I first downloaded the game and before I changed any settings? But what would that file name be, and in what folder?

ALT + ENTER! After all that I only needed to press alt+ enter to bring the games back into windowed mode. That reset the video output. And when I went in and adjusted the games resolution setting to full 1080p and full screen mode with no problems. I now have perfect video and audio and both games, thanks for trying to help.
