No video output, even after guides

So I build my computer, but my monitor says there is no HDMI cable connect.
I've followed this guide http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems and it all seems to be in order, yet my problem remains.

I hear no beeps, but every component is running ( or at least their fans ).
I'm afraid I might not have a good psu, since my gpu ( MSI R9 280 3GB ) requires a 500 watt PSU and that's all I have, a 500watt one.

I know a lot of people have had this problem to and there are a lot of guides about it, but none of them seems to help me ( probably because I'm a newbie ).

Any help would be awesome

Can you detail the components?
If starting the board with only CPU and CPU fan connected, are you getting the error beeps (I assume that there is a case speaker connected to the motherboard)?

Have you fitted an internal speaker?

A good night sleep was apparently just what I needed. I disconnected the GPU and got into the BIOS, so I knew my problem was with the GPU. Then my eye fell onto the connection options for my GPU, turns out this dumb-dumb here connected his screen with his motherboard and not with his GPU. I'm really really glad that the PSU isn't the problem (yet), however my cable management is still a joke.
