No video, POST beeps on newly built PC

Hello folks,

I'm doing my first PC build and I'm kind of stuck. I thank anyone in advance for reading this thread and for any help you can provide. So, all the components are in the case. I press the power button on the case and I believe I can hear drives spinning up, the fans on my video card spin and the CPU fan (stock) is on as well. I can see no video on the monitor. I've attempted to connect to VGA and HDMI but no dice. The monitor is on and I can go back and forth between the inputs but nothing is ever displayed on the screen. Believing I was troubleshooting blind without a system speaker, I bought one and plugged it in. I hear no POST beeps. Maybe I hooked it up wrong, but I doubt it because it seems pretty clearly marked on the motherboard where it goes.

I've tried it without the video card inserted. I've tried it with just one RAM stick inserted and I've tried the RAM in different slots. I mentioned up above that maybe I hooked the system speaker up wrong. The thing that makes me most suspect that is I even tried turning it on with no RAM installed. I figured if anything would cause beeps, it would be that (forgive me if that was just silly) but that doesn't even cause beeps, everything just spins up. I've removed the CPU and the fan and confirmed they are inserted correctly.

As I said, this is my first build and maybe I've just missed something incredibly obvious or maybe I fried something with ESD or something.

Any ideas?

Are both the 8 pin and 24 pin connectors and the CPU fan in? Did you get any thermal paste on the CPU pins?
Also, i see that your psu just barely supplies the needed power. That might need some looking into

I checked the CPU pins for thermal paste and it does not appear that I got any on there.

The 24 pin connector is for sure plugged in.

CPU fan is plugged in.

Now.. the 8 pin connector is what gives me pause. Basically I had a 4 pin connector so I've tried it with that plugged in and a second 4 pin connector plugged in right next to it. The connector looks like this (http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/eps4plus4index.jpg)

I suspect that I have the CPU connector plugged in correctly but it's something I will definitely have to double check.

As for the PSU, I haven't tried a different PSU. I'll see what I can do so far as testing a more powerful PSU to see what kind of result I get.
