This is actually the second posting re this rig so I will quote myself.

I decided to use my old Compaq micro ATX case for the home for some new hardware as follows:

Asus
M3N78-VM micro ATX Motherboard
AMD Athlon
x2 7750 CPU
4 GB (2x2gb) Gskill DDR2 PC2 800
Western Digital 160GB
SATA HDD
Ultra 500 watt power supply

For the present I am using the on board audio and graphics. I chose this mobo because of it's potential for future upgrades. (According to Asus it is compatible with Phennom II and does Hybrid SLI GeBoost) It will allow me to start cheap and build on later. (Here ends the previous post)

The previous problem was a mis-wired front panel connector, which I was able to straighten out with some help from another tom's member (Thx JSC). The current problem started when I hooked up a mouse and a PS2 keyboard and tried to boot only to get no video. When I rebooted without the keyboard, the video was back. Anybody have any idea what would cause this? I think I need a PS2 keyboard to load my new OS, enter bios, etc so this is problematic at best. How can I fix this, please? Thanks

Try hooking up just the mouse and not the keyboard. That would at least eliminate one possible component. Check for bent pins inside the ps2 plug.

I've seen a crap psu that couldn't boot when the monitor was plugged in. It just couldn't put out the power. A crap psu can often cause post problems.

Well, I don't think that any PSU from Ultra can be called "crap" and 500 watts seems plenty to run the board, CPU and monitor, which is all I have hooked up at the moment. I did try a different PSU and got the same issue. I swapped out the keyboard for a USB model and the video is back to stay now. I am just afraid that I am merely avoiding rather than fixing the issue. I have a new problem... and will put that on a separate post. Thanks for your help.
