Overclock Casualty!
Symptoms: Computer starts then immediately shuts down and boots again with no visual output at any point.

Casual Action: I changed the BCLK number from 100 to 120

System:
BIOS: 5304
MotherBoard: ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS Dual LGA 2011
2X Processors E5 2630 2.6 Intel Xeon
Corsair 1600 DDR RAM 4 x 8 Total 32 GB
980 GTX Nvidia GPU
PSU 1200W RT Corsair
2X Samsung 520 GB SSD

I understand that I can likely reset the Bios by pulling the battery BUT...I payed $320 to have an expert to optimize the BIOS for the fastest speeds and an Archive configuration. I didn't take a picture of the settings so I'd like to avoid wiping them again.

Needs:
I need to get my visuals back.
There appears to be no other video output to plug into except the GPU card.

~Your help is much appreciated.

Solution
i m not sure if those xeons have any gpu but the mainboard does not have any port to output

you would need another gpu to diagnose the pc that is not showing anything

reset bios first, the psu, can you test it is working on another pc first? it is a high end model but still can fail

also remove the 980 and test it on another pc, see if it gets powered and shows image

I guess, you'll have to pay another $320 then. 😆

I'm sorry, but that's just careless waste of money.

i don't understand what you ask, if you can enter in bios, restore default settings

if you can't boot system, remove battery and gpu, boot form the onboard gpu, later add the 980 again once you set things right again in bios and windows

Solution
-I have two 580 GTX I can use
-I just spoke with the IT person I used. He says: "A rest shouldn't wipe my Raid configuration"
That's good news.
-I don't have voltage meter
-I do have an extra PSU

I'll wipe the bios first
If no visual I'll change out the GPU
If still no visual I'll change out the PSU.

Thank you very much for your swift assistance atljsf. Most appreciated.

I successfully rebooted the Motherboard.
-Video has returned
-RAID 1 is functional

(FYI)
The Z9PE-D8-WS has a blue Jumper at the bottom of the Board on base of 3 pins. Moving the Jumper from pin 1&2 to Pins 2&3 for 5 seconds resets the board. Hold down the 'del' on the number pad and BIOS booted right up.
(Caution the procedure is done with all power disconnected.)

Overclock attempt will be as I've found here.
--------------------------------------------------
Bclk @113mhz * 31 = 3.5ghz
CPu1 and Cpu2 voltage = auto (0.92 v) -> 1.15v
CPu1 and CPU2 VSA voltage = auto(0.85) -> 1.0v
Current temperature on idle : 32'c
Current temperature on a FullLoad 5 min = 47'c
I dont do test with Interburn for this Bclk because i dont want do burn him if i dont use good Voltage or something like these.
The computer doesnt freeze, no artefact showed. I just don't know if i miss something before i keep this at this voltage.

Thank you atljsf for your help.

i didn't suggestd the jumper, the sinple reason is that recently some mainboards will not label that jumper as clr cmos or will not come with a jumper, making it hard to find and use, if you don't have a jumper, you won't be able to jump those two lines

that is why we mention the remove battery option

good you got it working

those temps sound very good, how capable is a machine like this, for example on cinebench?

I'm not sure how to judge the Cinebench information.
I've just started overclocking this system. I can easily get to 3.5 to 3.8 Gighertz without problems but she's in the low 70 degrees C.

Cinebench says the stock clocking speed:
1.12C/24T @2.6 GHZ, Intel Xeon CPU E5-2630 v2

OPEN GL 72.55 FPS
CPU 1534 cb

I don't know what that means though

lets put this on perspective

against my cpu, i get in cinebench 310cb and 30something in opengl

you are getting 5 times more cpu power than i and almost 3 times more gpu power

that is what you get with that machine

if you look it at other way, that is on the grounds of the new ryzen r7 1800x or the new intel i9 stupidly expensive cpu

That's stunning.
The Downside then is that I likely paid alot more for this than the cost of an i9. But my intention was to create a Rendering machine and CAD machine. Looks like I did mostly succeed. That's good to know. Yet I still want more power.

i9 can be a success or a crash and burn experience, i wouldn't buy a i9 no matter what

if you want more power, well, your only choice would be a ryzen on x399 or the horribly expensive i9 you mention, but i wouldn't attempt another build untill next year, wait while prices stabilize and platform gets stable to use it, not wait and patch and discover if you bought the right ram or the right mainboard

I'm testing an overclock now. Seems pretty good for the last 2 Days
Base Clock 113 @ 3.5 GHZ

This is just 10 degrees higher than normal. and the results are great. Of course this is increasing clock speeds across the boards. That's why I'm thinking of picking up the E5 2690 with a higher clock speed of 2.9 to 3.8 and 8 cores. Wow. If I get two of these I'm suddenly running likely 4.0 at 16 cores. It's very very tempting.
