No wireless networks found in range?

I recently bought this.

and I can't find an networks. My PS3, tablet, iPhones and laptop doesn't have a problem.
What's wrong?

First thought is you need a driver. If you open device manager is it listed as a hardware device under network adapters?

Yep installed.

Does it even show up as a network connection in network adpaters?

Check services.. do you have a service called Zero Config Wireless.. (or something llike that) disabled?

Is the adapter set to DHCP? Is there a static ip set against it?

If you look in netowrk connection.. see your wireless adapter, right click and goto properties.

Then there is a list with some stuff.. IPv4 (it might just be plain old TCP/IP in XP - it'S been so long i can't reember exactly)

Double click on that.

Is it set to obtain an address automatically? (it probably should be!)

Also.. i s the adapter and woreless router compatable? You haven't go AC only wifi router for example and a b/g/n only adapter?

K. I unselected it.

I've got no reall idea. Mybe the wireless adapter is a dead part? Would need to test in another computer to verify.
But it sounds like everything should work.

It's enabled, installed, set to auto..etc. It should work. I say should.
I've found in the past that when Windows wireless wasn't picking anything up.. Whatever utility came with the wifi adapater sometimes does a better job.

I decided to put my computer next to the modem. There was literally a 10 second connection, than failed. I guess it was just the adapter.
