Hello,

I am currenlty searching for a good aftermarket cooler to cool my i5 4690k in the Phanteks Enthoo Pro case. I am thinking about the Noctua NH-D14 priced at $80. Also I am thinking about the DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm Lucifer V2 priced at around $45. Obviously, the Lucifier is cheaper by $35. My question is, which cooler is better or this there an alternative cooler better than these two? Would I be able to achieve 4.6 Ghz with the Lucifier cooler at reasonable temps? Also is the thermal paste included with the coolers good?

Thanks!

When you look at the massive coolers like those they will all perform quite well. How much you can overclock a processor depends on the processor and less with cooling. Good CPUs will run high frequencies at lower voltages and thus run cooler, leaving room for more voltage to achieve even higher clocks. Depending on whether you hit a temperature wall first is when better cooling can make the difference.

There are many massive coolers to pick from. Not seen any particular reviews on the Lucifer, but the Noctua does take top marks most of the time. Phanteks TC14PE is a popular alternative (comes in coolers other then brown).

Well, after some intensive researching, I think I'll jump on the Lucifier. I found a review of it here:

This is for v1 I think, but still the versions should be very similar:

Considering that its only $44.99 on newegg with free shipping and good reviews (on some sites people even reported lower temps than on the noctua), I think this will be a good buy. Thanks nevertheless for the response =).
