Since water coolers are VERY expensive where I live (seriously, a h80i costs more than the D15), and I want to get the Max overclock out of my new 4790k, I was looking at high end air coolers, and I settled on the Noctua NH-D14 at first, but then I saw that the D15 is about 20 bucks (converted from my currency) more expensive than the D14, so I asked myself if it was worth it to get the upgrade, but I couldn't get an answer, so I'm asking you guys.

is for 20 bucks more, the D15 is worth upgrading from the D14?

Either are good quality coolers and likely cool as well as or better than the h80i. Also without the headaches of potential leaks, software configuration, pump failures or other various issues that can come from aio's that a quality air cooler doesn't suffer from. Just check the ram clearance of the cooler you're interested in and compare to the ram you have installed if it has heat spreaders on it. Both coolers overhang the ram some and if the ram is too tall there could be fitment issues.

Only a few degrees celsius difference between the two, it may not be worth the extra $20 to you.
