Hi,

Im installing the Noctua NH-D15S, and im a little lost how tight the screws should be. The manual says screw until they stop, does this mean all the way down until there is no more turn to turn. Or should it be like only 5-10turn when the screw is half way down ?

Can this damage the processor or motherboard, or is it safe proofed with the spring screws ?

Hi it's me again.

I just looked at the manual for that cooler.

It says "Tighten the screws until they stop".

https://noctua.at/pub/media/blfa_files/manual/noctua_nh_d15s_manual_en_web_v2.pdf

Section 3 in the manual.

"Caution: Gently tighten the screws until they stop, but don’t use excessive force (max. torque 0.6 Nm)"

Tighten them until they stop and you stop there. Do not force them further. :)

You are amazing to reply :)
This is the part im a little afraid of. But I asume its okey to basically screw them all the way down, just feels like the turning is quite stiff from the start.

Installing the CPU and Cooler is always the part where people are afraid a bit :) Just keep screwing until they stop per your manual.

Let us know when the system is running :)

NH-D15 owner here.

Stopped tightening when the springs creaked because I thought I was overtightening. Big mistake - CPU reached 93C in AIDA64.

Remounted and retightened the screws until they stopped. 80C max in AIDA64.
