Hi guys,

I wonder if this is the right position for that cooler:

https://www.google.se/search?q=noctua+nh+d+14+position&biw=1920&bih=979&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=RIvuVODSOcPaOLqMgegJ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#tbm=isch&q=noctua+nh+d14+am3%2B+position&imgdii=_&imgrc=b_xr86abTSzuuM%253A%3BsusZ11RszMQylM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.guru3d.com%252Fmiraserver%252Fimages%252F2009%252Fnoctua-nh-d14%252FIMG_9611-600.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.guru3d.com%252Farticles-pages%252Fnoctua-nh-d14-review%252C5.html%3B600%3B442

I have the exactly same position, i searched online and I see other people that point it in different direction, I don't have top fans mounted only the exhaust - back of the case and one in front (intake)

I really want to know before I have to remount this tower cooler

I didn't connect the "ultra low noise" adapter that came with the cooler, is that necessary? (it is a bit loud) is it possible to change that in bios instead?

EDIT:

I changed the position of fans and got much lower temps!

Btw, for those that consider buying Noctua Nh-D14, the installation was very EASY compared to previous cooler master hyper evo 212

Thanks all for the help!

Look carefully, the photo you linked in your first post shows the cooler installed backwards. In your linked photo, the cooler is drawing air FROM the back of the case (where an exhaust fan would be located) and sending it through the cooler TOWARDS the front of the case. That's backwards. You want it drawing air from the front and sending it towards the back (where an exhaust fan gets it out of the case).

If I understood you correctly, it looks fine? I can feel the left fan of that cooler blowing air towards the exhaust fan

You want both NH-D14 fans to send the cooling air out of the case as directly as possible.
Normally a case has intakes at the front and exhaust at the back or possibly top.
The usual best path is towards a rear 120 or 140mm exhaust fan.

FWIW, I think the pic you linked had the fan rotation wrong.
Each fan will have a molded arrow indicating the rotation and airflow direction.

And, the noctua mount is actually very easy to change around. Best to check the position of the first for clearance.
You will almost certainly need to use low profile ram.

The photo you linked has the cooler mounted backwards. Fans are installed correctly, the whole cooler is 180 degrees backwards. I believe the proper mounting is the first fan blowing INTO the first cooler tower, then the middle fan blows in the same direction through the second tower and out into the back of the computer.

This shows the proper mounting. There's no fan on the side of the cooler tower facing the rear exhaust of the case:

That is the correct positioning :)

Make sure that both cpu fans are pushing towards the rear of the case.

And Noctua's all blow TOWARDS the crossbar/label side of the fan. Now, if I could just teach myself to double check that before mounting one. I bet I've had to remove and rotate fans after installing them at least a half dozen times. :)

Hi, sorry for my late response, sadly for some reason I can't upload it to my pc yet, something weird with my phone 😡

Okay thanks, that's the position i've seen before and the ones I linked above on my first post. I'll start and change the position

Thanks for the heads-up :)

Noctua is in a whole different league as far as coolers go. The Hyper 212 EVO is a pia to install. Still it is a good low end cooler. I also have two NH-D14's. Love them but they hide so much of my beautiful Crossblade Ranger and Sabertooth R2.
