I am deciding between these coolers which are priced slightly differently in my region (HK). I am cooling the i5 9600k with the z390 gaming x and the phanteks enthoo pro m, not really worried about pushing the overclock to its limit but more about getting the most value out of the cooler. Converted back to USD, The D14 is listed at $68.80, the D15s at $75.17 and the D15 somewhere around $80.28.

D15 is the best of the bunch, but D15S improves compatibility with only a negligible tradeoff in performance.
Both are D14 is a solid cooler, but slightly weaker than the other two.
All true, but depending on the prices which one would be the best choice? Compatibility shouldn't be an issue with my other parts but as a first time builder I am worried if I can make it work.

Honestly, the Noctua's are all easy enough to install - they're sizeable, but easy enough.

Value for money, the D14 is probably the best call.

As for the RAM question, I'm sure DLOT was asking due to compatibility concerns. The D15S has improved memory compatibility over the D15.

What you want is quiet and cool for the best price.

The 15s is the best value buy on a cooling/noise level basis. The 15 has two towers for excellent ventilation with two fans, to maximize cooling potential @ a certain noise level. The 15s has the same two towers but one fan , so almost the same cooling but lower sound volumes. The 14 has only one of each, low on noise but less on cooling.

I just installed an NH-D15S yesterday on an Intel 8700, and am seeing a 30 degree Celsius drop in my temps under load.

I don't overclock (obviously) but under load with the stock cooler I was running in the mid-90s Celsius, and occasionally it seemed to hit the thermal limit and back itself off.

I installed the NH-D15S, and with Prime95 and other stress tests, I never went over 63C. I was very impressed with the ease of installation, although this would be even easier if I took the motherboard out of the case. It is super quiet, perhaps not silent on full load, but very nearly silent. I also like the greater compatibility of the D15S: The offset heatsink gives you mounting options, and one fan was plenty to meet my needs.

My setup, for compatibility info:
i7-8700
Corsair Vengeance RAM
Asus TUF Z370 Gaming Plus motherboard
Corsair Carbide 200R case

I would check out the measurements carefully to ensure it will fit in your case, it comes pretty close to the side panel on my 200R. Great performing cooler
