Seems like this would work best in a configuration where the motherboard is laying flat. With no fan to guide the heat away from the fins the natural progression would be for it to rise. In a configuration where the board is mounting vertically, like most towers, wouldn't the top fins naturally remain hotter as the heat from the bottom fins dissipate upwards via natural air flow? Seems like you want your chimney to go up and out, not sideways~

No way that thing can dissipate 80 watts unless your case was very well ventilated. Also, can you actually buy sandia coolers? I wonder if they're any good.
