Noise Control Silverado

Anyone ever had a noise control silverado? What did you think? Does anyone see anything bad about it? I plan to overclock a little with it but I like the quietness! Anyone know where to buy one? Didn't find any on pricewatch or cnet pricing..
Thanks!

the only problem is that the cooling limit of it is about 1.5ghz

hmmm...
have you ever thought of adapting the funkey fans from the silverado to a copper heatsink from one of the current high end coolers?

p.s. whats the rated airflow for the silverado?

Where can you buy one of these? Search on PriceWatch turned up empty.

Hmm I don't know how well that would work but it is worth a try... but I don't have the money to spend on two expensive hsf combos. It would be interesting to know how it did. I think the silverado's heat sinks are pretty good though... 50 grams of pure silver base with aluminum heat sinks. It seems to cool pretty well especially for a quiet hsf. Check out tomshardware reviews on it. What would be really neat is to attach the 50 gram silver base on a pure copper hs with quiet fans. Anyone ever tried this?

hmmms.

how about just getting your high quality copper heatsink, replacing the fan with the two from the silverado AND getting the copper part silver plated :)

the next step would be a pure silver heatsink. would look nice and cool extreemly well, but a bit soft and pricey.
better to just go for a watercooler.

I don't know.. watercoolers seem pretty pricy and complicated especially for me. I'm still trying to build my first system ;/

I have one, and absolutely love it. You can order one here:
http://www.noisecontrol.de/

A few remarks: the thing is SILENT.. I mean, you dont hear it at all, if you use the 6v wire (it comes with 6v, 8v and a 10v cable). With the 8 or even 10v it is still impossible to hear it over my Enermax PSU (and my 2 7200 rpm harddisks).

I cannot really judge its cooling performance.. I can only tell you it cools my Duron 600@933 1.65v to 38°C iddle 43 max. My previous cooler was the infamous TT chrome orb, which gave me 47 iddle 53 Max @866 Mhz.. and with much more noise.

My brother has a Athlon 1.2 with a Silverado 10v, and it runs 39° iddle, 44 Max load (though the Vcore is set at a hefty 1.85v). Not sure how good these values are, but they seem decent to me, especially when taking in account the lack of noise.

A few caveats though:
- the silverado requires TWO fan connectors, one for each fan.
- the motherf*ucker is BIG and HEAVY. make sure you can mount it on your motherboard (and in your case).
- installing isnt that easy.. the ammount of presure you need to apply is really frightening.
- its quite expensive.. well.. VERY expensive

ONe last remark.. its not really limited to 1.5 Ghz. Like most high end coolers, its rated at 1.5+ (when in "turbo mode", ie 12v)

ITs rated for 1.5 Ghz when running only 8v. IF you use 10 or 12v you have enough headroom for overclocking, or cooling whatever CPU AMD will bring out in the near future.
