The noise sounds like a geiger counter and I've read up on the problem. it happens at idle, and it is loud. its is a seagate 1TB sshd that is in warranty but i don't have the receipt (prebuilt pc) . i often experience full pc freezing.

1. Test that drive with SeaTools:

Already ran a long test but it told me it was a pass. however it is still loud, is that normal? 2 crashes happened today.
A drive should not be "loud", nor should it crash twice a day.
I will attempt to get a recording of the sound if possible, would that be ok?
Doesn't matter. Loud is loud. It shouldn't be doing that.
Contact Seagate. See what they say.
thank you for your help, but i hear crackling from my psu occasionally too and im unsure if this is the problem i found this upon opening my case. i have to go now so i cant reply for a few hours.
You need to confirm where the noise is coming from. If you disconnect the drive and turn on the PC is it quiet? (obviously it won't boot but you can still power it up) One trick is to listen through a tube of some kind which makes your hearing much more directional.
Could be a drive, could be a fan, could be the PSU, you need to be sure.
