Question Noise like a mechanical HDD during SSD activity ?

Hi there,

I have a brand new PC build, and I am trying to troubleshoot a very strange sound that emits from the PC periodically.

It seems to correlate with the SSD activity (eg. opening a web browser or application, browsing to a new website), and it sounds almost like an old mechanical disk - except I only have an SSD installed.

Video of the noise here (you might need headphones!):

CPU: i7-12700KF
MB: Asus Z690-PLUS WIFI D4
SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB

Any help much appreciated.

A "possibility" type of thought. SOME CPU chips tend to spike to high internal temps briefly when certain loads increase suddenly, like launching a browser or other apps. This, in turn, can trigger a sudden speed-up of the CPU cooling fan (or rad fans), which then settle down again as the CPU chip gets cooled. MAYBE that is the sound you are hearing - CPU cooler(s) speed up and slow down. Depends what you find in locating the real noise source.
