Noise when navigating folders

When navigating folders in Windows 7, my computer makes a noise that sounds like a deep popping sound. This happens every time I navigate the control panel or open a new folder, it does not happen when I click the back button to return to the previous folder. Any ideas what could be going on?

Hi.

Go to start, control panel, Hardware and sound, do click on sound and look for the sounds tab and finally in sound scheme select "Without sounds" Apply and OK.

None of the sounds work, when I test them it comes out as the same little popping sound, but I don't want to have to go without windows sounds. Is there another way?

Look for the option "start navigation" in the same window of sounds tab in "events program"
