Hello Everyone,

Last fall I purchased a Nokia 7.1, and thus far I have been very happy with it. That said I have recently starting having some issues and I was hoping I might be able to get some help from the group.

First I recently noticed a drop in reception. Areas where I previously had no bars, now have none and frequently fails to connect to data. This issue has been going on for about 4 weeks.

I also noticed about a month ago that the battery life has suddenly taken a hit. I still get through the day, but previously I'd end my day with 30% left, now it is closer to 10%.

The biggest issue I am having is as follows: Often when I go to use my phone, it will not wake up. At first I thought it was shutting off. I would have to hold the power button to get it to boot and the boot would take longer than normal for the phone to turn on/Android OS boot screen to pop up. What I figured out was that in some cases the phone was still on, just not responding. Sometimes I can wake it by plugging it into the charger, or clicking the power button a few times. I have also figured out I can double click the power button to bring up the camera and that will sometimes wake the phone. Other times it seems that nothing will wake it.

Sometimes rebooting requires a long hold, sometimes not. Sometimes I will wind up rebooting every time I pick up the phone (5-10 times per hour), sometimes it works fine for a day

I thought it seemed to be related to chrome, and if I left it open in the background, but that is not always the case. I contacted Nokia, and they suggested clearing the cache and resetting several programs which I did. I tried rolling Chrome back to its original state. I have even done a factory reset. The issue persists.

Another odd thing I have noticed is when I plug the charging cable into my computer at work, Windows gives me a message saying it doesn't recognize which USB device it is, and the phone doesn't ask me if I want to share data over USB. Previously I would get a request on the phone to share data via USB, and windows would list the phone by model/

Running android(one) 9 with the latest updates available for the Nokia 7.1

I am not sure if this is one large problem, or a combination of multiple problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is greatly impacting the functionality of my phone.

Thank you.

Pete

If you are in areas with little or no network, the phone will lose signal reception and battery will drain much faster. That's normal.

In some case, people have had lost nearly 40% of battery overnight, without even using the phone but this you can check from the battery option in phone settings. This will let you know what app used how much of the battery.

I personally use an app called Accubattery. It shows very accurate results and helps minimize the battery drain.

If it goes off and turns on when connected to the charger, then it is likely to be a software problem.

A factory reset can possibly fix this.

Turn on usb debugging from the developer options in your phone and then try to connect to PC.

It is also possible that some of your USB ports are faulty. They won't recognize, no matter what device you connect.
