Non existant PC as homegroup leader

Hello guys!

I did a clean reinstall of Windows 10 on my main PC 3 days ago and I still can't create a new homegroup because Windows is telling me that the previous install of Win 10 is still commanding the current homegroup.

I don't have the password and I can't create a new one because the non existant PC is registered as being the creator of the current homegroup.

I just need Windows to ignore the ghost pc so I can create a new homegroup.

Any tips or solutions to this problem?

Ok, I had the same problem after upgrading my 3 pc's to Win 10. How I solved it? I shut off all three pc's...then rebooted my router (don't feel this had anything to do with it but it couldn't hurt either). I then booted 1 of my three computers. Went to the control panel and clicked on homegroup. Whala! No home group detected! I created a new homegroup and set a new password. Then 1 by 1 I restarted my other computers and went to the control panel/homegroup and when told I had been invited to join a homegroup I joined it using the new password I created and all is now well.... New homegroup, new password and all computers are now connected! Sure hope this tip helps others out there. Oh ya, I also shut down my windows phone...
