I am replacing an ASUS no frills 3 slot mobo, I have a i7 4790K cpu that will go with the new board. I am not interested in audio or gaming. I have a music studio so I use a $2,000 interface for the audio and a camera for the videos. It takes a lot of cpu to digitize music and pictures at the same time. I have a Gigabyte with a i7 3770K now and it does a good with audio but that PC is hands off. I am looking at the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7, Thunderbolt is coming and one of my audio interfaces has that now. I am using the firewire port and it is slower than when the same audio interface is on a mini-Mac with thunderbolt. I am also looking at the ASRock but know nothng about them. ASUS is good but their support is not so good. Any ideas, I don't want to spend money on a mobo with great audio, I won't use it. It is hard to find a fast mobo that isn't for gaming, at least I am having that problem.! Thank you.

Boy, that ways quick. Well it looks like the Gigabyte is going to be the one. I have the one I mentioned running for almost 3 years and have done nothing. It is a 3.5 Ghz CPU and I normally run it at 4.2 to 4.4 Ghz. I guess the extra for the UD7 so I can have thunderbolt will be my choice. Still under $200.00 and run it about 4.8 Ghz, that seems to be the spot to keep it from getting hot. Thank you so much....
