On a $600.00 max budget. Looking for advice on a motherboard to pair up with an I5-4570. B85, H81, H97...not sure what to go with? What provides the best insulation for the future? I don't want to spend more than $100.00. PC will be used for internet, Microsoft Office, video encoding every now and then, and would also like to install Plex media server to stream movies to my TV.

Here is the first part list I put together. Pretty much based the build on reviews of each individual component.

Would like to add a video card in the future. Still iffy on the SSD. I already have a 1TB hard drive.

Depends on how patient you are. AMD is the way to go for extreme budget and/or all-in-one capabilities, I even have a laptop with an AMD A10 APU. However, in 2 years it'll feel slow if it doesn't already because AMD has very poor single-core CPU performance. If you want something cheap now, AMD all the way. If you want something that will last forever, i5. If you want a compromise, i3. Honestly, if you can snag an unlocked A10 and overclock it, you'll remedy the single-core performance enough for most tasks. That's my recommendation now. You can find the A10-5800K for $99 now; paired with a good mobo you can overclock, and the integrated graphics will be good enough for medium settings in most games!

Here's a build I put together if...

yeah...I've gone back and forth on that. Started with the I3, but the more I read it seemed an I5 would be better in the long run? Would save me about $80...could pocket that or put towards more memory or probably a new PSU. I don't think the one from my old system is gonna fly.

Given my needs, do you think I'm better going the AMD route? I've read that for value builds, AMD is the way to go.

Here's a build I put together if you want overclocking potential and a SSD:
