I have assembled my pc in the last month. the config is good with Asus H97Pro, Intel I5 4590(non k series), crossair 550w psu, but I have purchased (1*4gb)crossair vengence ram rather than purchasing a (2*4gb) kit in order to work in dual chanel mode.

Now I have 1crossair vengence ram of 1600 mhz. Model no- cms4gx3m1a1600c9
can I use another RAM stik having same model no to run in dual channel mode. even if they were purchased seperately. will it work? how can I run it in dual channel mode?

Flex mode has been around for about 10 years and originated when it was easy to mix sticks, DDR3 is a different story, with DDR3 it's a crapshoot any time you try and mix sets of DRAM,and even more so today with the higher density (4Gb memory chips) and Some DRAM utilizing PnP vs the norm of XMP

Maybe - there are no guarantees when mixing DRAM - even with two sticks of the same identical model #, which is why the manufacturers offer such a wide variety of sets - all sticks in a package are tested to play together. If it was as easy to just mix sticks as many imply, the makers would simply sell all DRAM in single stick packages and make more money - the testing to ensure that sticks in a package play together is what raises the price
