I'm just coming to the end of my current supply of Goose cartridges
and would be interested to hear which cartridges others are using and
your thoughts on them.

I'm currently using 50gr of TungstenMatrix 1's which appear to work
pretty well when pointed in the right direction 😉 However given the
cost if there's a load out there that people think is better I'd be
interested to hear about it...

Hello Stephen,
You'll not get any better than tungsten although some of my fellow
wildfowlers swear by bismuth. Personally I think it's down to personal
preference but the bismuth are slightly cheaper than tungsten in some areas.
Tin and steel are poor substitutes in my opinion, the heavi-shot from the
USA looks promising but again it's very expensive.
Hope this helps
Regards

Thats how I thought things were, and in fairness given the limited
amount of flighting I manage to do each season its not that big a
problem for me that they aren't the cheapest cartridges going 😉

Although I think my next batch may be shot shot size or two down,
for a slightly denser pattern.

Stick to Tungsten Matrix!

I've 'invested' in some Hevi-shot (at £1.29 a pop!) this year and am not
convinced on either it's effectiveness or supposed range. At least with
Tungsten you may sacrifice a few yards, but it works!
