"Nonpaged Pool" using all my memory

So i realized that my PC was using all the memory i have available. It was using 14GB's out of my 16GB's of ram. Off course i opened task-manager, but i couldn't see what was eating up my memory. I tried closing some of the processes that was using the highest amounts of RAM, but i didn't see any difference at all.

I installed and opened up RAMMap, and then i saw something interesting. My "Nonpaged Pool" was using around 12GB!

Now to my question, dear community! What is going on here? Why is this pool using so much memory, and how do i fix it?

- I will post a screenshot from RAMMap, so you can see what i'm talking about.

1) Yes, the issue is still there after i reboot. I've been having this issue the last week or so.
2) I'm using Windows 8.1 64 bit on my overclocked 4770K i7 CPU.
3) What do you mean by my service level?

- Thank you for you quick reply!

This occurs when there's a memory leak in a driver. Unlike the paged-pool the nonpaged-pool cannot be swapped out to a hard disk drive to free up physical memory for other uses. When memory in the paged-pool leaks, it is gone for good.

To remedy this you will need to hunt down the offending driver and update it.

If you can't find it simply by performing routine updates, there is a tool which can analyse memory allocation to find the offending driver called PoolMon (it's part of the Windows Driver Kit)

Hi, and thank's alot for you answer.
I think i might found out what was causing the problem. Usually, i have my smartphone plugged into my computer. When i unplugged it and rebooted, the leak was gone. Now i just hope this problem ain't comming back!

That's odd. USB Device drivers are usually in userspace, only the USB host controller is in kernel space. Could be a bug in the host controller driver, keep an eye on it.

I will. ;-)
