First, thanks to all the Tom's Hardware forum contributors - I have learned a lot reading your debates, questions, responses and recommendations.

I am going to undertake my first build, budget between 1500 and 2000. Eventually would like to upgrade to dual GPUs and delve into overclocking but only after some experience but want to design the upgrade capability up front. My proposed component list is below and I invite comments. Primary use is gaming, modding, music play and some movie watching (but not video editing) and the inevitable work related functions so I can pay for this. Wife appeal is a factor (thus the Obsidian 550D Case).

Very nice system mate, but you chose a X79 motherboard, wich is designed for socket LGA 2011 cpu's, and you chose a socket LGA 1155 cpu, so you'll need to find a Z77 board for your cpu, or get another cpu.
