NOOB ALERT ! :D Wondering whether keeping my pc powered up at long periods of time may damage it!

I only play downloaded games, and activate them through the original codes that i keep saved up.
and the fact is some of the current games are MASSIVE! indeed and take a bit long to download from Steam or Origins alike.

So will i damage my pc if i keep it on for like 2 days straight in a row ? if yes then ...... { Sad face 🙁 }

If no .... then how long can i actually keep it open without damaging the components ?

There is no real limit on the length of time that is safe for your parts. As long as your PC is properly cooled you can view this time as having used your computer a few more days longer than you have ( ie a 1 year old 24/7 PC has twice the wear as a 1 year old 12hr per day PC).

In fact many computer parts made for data centers and the likely will never see down time except for routine maintenance.

I personally will leave my personal computer on for days at a time when seeding (Legal only :O ) torrents.

They can be left on indefinitely, although I like a restart about once a month anyway.

yeah... theres almost no wear... what wears out your pc is high temperatures, then dust might short the components out, maybe something else... our phones are always on and they ussualy die to physical damage...

I think it is actually better to let the machine run 24x7 if power consumption is not a concern and heat is not an issue. Things run a greater risk of failure when they are switched on, heating and cooling metal wears it out faster than leaving it warm all the time. This may not be as much of an issue in recent systems, but it used to be, as a result i still run my systems 24x7 to this day.

most business computers and especially (poorly cooled) laptops these days are run 9hrs+ each day, some are never switched off. The main issue is dust collecting in the heatsink fins, which can build up surprisingly quickly and slowly increase temperatures until the computer starts to become unreliable.
