I am having Puget Custom Computers build my pc. The first attempt did not go so well, with the Asus P5K Premium failing. They are building me a new system and will special order a mother board to put in there. They are fans of Asus but now I am leary.

The computer will have an Intel Penryn QX9650, 4 Gb of DDR2 and an XFX GeForce 8800 gts video card. I will use it for video editing and some gaming. Puget will be overclocking the CPU as well.

I don't know P35 from X38 or Tyan from Gigabyte. I will pay for quality.

Here is one that I found: DFI LP UT P35 T2R http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136037

Thanks for any info.

Tee ASUS P5K E with or without WIFI is also a nice board. I don't think you'd get any real performance gains with the X38 given what you're doing

Or the GA-P35-DS3P, if your video editing involves a camera with Firewire...

I have to ask though: are you sure a $1000 overclocked QX9650 will bring you any advantage at all over a stock $300 Q6600? From my own experience, even the stock Q6600 is never used at 100% because other factors such as the hard disk are limiting. You're probably wasting money there, and inviting trouble with the overclocking too. I may be wrong, of course.
