The only thing i have not chosen yet is the graphics card i know this is a very important part for gaming but i am only a student right now who works part time so can not afford the £500 card so need to get a cheaper one but obviously not too cheap say £250 but as i say i am still looking, as of now this is what i have chosen does any one think these are a bad choice? or are these all good component's for a gaming pc? any advice would be much appreciated im going to buy these bit by bit weekly.

For a first time builder I have to say, you didn't choose bad parts. For the GPUs in the "sweet spot" of $200-$300 the best cards are:
Nvidia GTX 760

AMD R9 270X

I personally prefer the Nvidia card because it is just a tiny bit more powerful. Also keep in mind I don't use pounds so I'll do some conversions and get back to you.

Edit: $200-$300 is 120-180 pounds btw

So in this case, get the GTX 770 or the R9 280X

The only thing I would change is the PSU, don't choose one until you know exactly which GPU you will be going with. Also, avoid the CX series of PSUs from Corsair, that's their budget line and doesn't have the best reputation. Look for a quality PSU from a top-tier company such as Seasonic, XFX, Corsair (except their CX series) or Antec.

Additionally, if you plan on overclocking your CPU you will need to invest in an aftermarket cooler.

The PSU better be a XFX 650w Core Edition! They're really nice and will suffice for your system

Hi thanks for the reply, the gtx 770 is the card i have been looking at been looking at reviews for it and it seems a good card to get.

Thanks for the reply i will look at getting a better psu then any preference of what i should get?

I dont know how to overclock so was not going to do that till i learn how but i will definatly look at getting a aftermarket cooler when/if i do overclock thanks.

i will have a look a bit deeper at this psu and get back to you it seems like a good psu
