So my computer is a Gateway, and I've never done anything to it hardware wise.

Here is the DxDiag stuff: (I'm not sure what you need to know so if I left something just let me know)
Gateway,
dx-4850,
Intel core i5-2300 CPU @ 2.8-GHz (4 CPUs) ~2.8GHz
6144MB RAM
DirectX11
Intel HD Graphics
Internal
1696 MB

I haven't changed the PSU so I'm guessing it's 300W, but others have said Gateway is cheap with PSU so it may be lower. (I'm not sure how to check)

I just want to be able to play some games like Skyrim, Counter Strike GO, Fall Out 4 with decent FPS. I'm not a hardcore gamer and my budget is 300 max.

EDIT: Resolution would be 1080, but if it's not feasible I can settle for less

Thanks a lot!

260x and 950 are not likely to work on a 300W power supply. It is unlikely that the power supply even has any PCIe connectors.

a 750Ti maybe? it is a 75W TDP card and requires a 300W system but if it is a dodgy PSU probably not the best thing,
anyway id just recommend a whole new build would you agree?

Under 300, I'll add that to the main message. I would like 1080, but if that is out of my budget I can settle for less.

go to the start icon>rightclick my computer>manage>Disk management how many hard drives do you see there?

Thanks! I only have one.

so a 750Ti is the best you could get in your system without overloading your power supply. is it possible you could find the model number?

300W PSU is enough.

GTX 750 Ti is a low power card and will work even if your PSU is Chinese crap because the card draws power from the motherboard PCIe slot. The Zotac GTX 750 Ti one is the cheapest and not really that bad. The EVGA GTX 750 Ti and MSI Twin Frozr GTX 750 Ti are the two best.

but the motherboard gets its power from the power supply and runs off the 12V rail, if he had the budget he could always pick up another power supply with the 750Ti

yep i got you now, as long as he doesnt get a 750Ti with a 6pin connector like the zotac one you suggested

Model number of what exactly?

I am willing to get a new PSU, as long as it isn't over 100 USD.

find a 500-650W XFX, antec, or seasonic unit, look on newegg or a computer retailer in your area, you never know there might be some good ones on special
