Noob monitor question

I'm about to purchase an Alienware, and I have a question about the monitor. It's a NEC 17" MultiSync FE771SB Flat CRT. The description says the max resolution is only 1280 x 1024. Does that mean I won't be able to play games in 1600 x 1200?
