I'm building my first gaming PC {i5 7500k, 2x 8gs of ram, MSI H170gaming M3) and am trying to decide on two parts the display and graphics card, id rather go for the cheaper option, the gtx 1060 with a 1080p resolution display over the gtx 1080 with higher resolution. my problem is that I'm coming from the PS and I don't know first hand the quality of the graphic first hand, I'm just looking to be able to play games and them to look well and not regret not buying the 1080 but I also don't want to waste money on something that's not needed just for bragging rights.... ps I'm a complete noob so any advise

Solution
you can only overcloco on Z-boards.
the letter determines the area of the chip: Z = overclocking, H = non-overclocking customer, B = non-overclocking business
due to the similarity of the B and H chips you can just pick a B-chip as well if it's cheaper

the numbers after the letter determine the generation of the chip. 170/150 is the generation that was released with Intel's Skylake CPUs, so Intels 6X00 CPUs
270/250 is the generation released with Intel's Kaby Lake, so Intel's 7X00 CPUs like your i5-7500
so get a H270 / B250 board for your CPU and you'll be fine.
the 1060 will get you 60+ FPS on most titles on ultra settings (with a little bit of tinkering like 4xAA instead of 8xAA on any title)
if you want some future proofing go for a cheap 1070.

as for the 1060s any card with 2 fans or 3 fans is fine and performs just as well as all the others thanks to NVIDIA's Boost 3.0

for your CPU to work with your board, your board needs a BIOS update.
either the store you're buying from updates it already or you need an Intel i-3/5/7-6X00 to update it
it's smarter to go with a B250/H270 board instead
also there's no 7500k. there's a 7600k (a Z270 board is recommended for that CPU) and a 7500.

Well, the 1060 is your better choice. If you're coming from PS, everything will be god-like. PS is limited to 30 FPS, if I'm right and it doesn't have a GPU, rather it uses an APU, which is much weaker than a 1060.
A GTX 1060 will run any 1080p game 60+ FPS, granted, on some of them, you'll have to play with the settings, but since you're used to 30FPS, that won't be a problem.
You should get a H270 motherboard, because your CPU isn't natively supported by the H170, meanig you'll have to updtae BIOS.

thats what i was think myself no need for the over kill .the reason i bought the H170 is because i dont plan on over clocking, would that be the wrong cpu I picked, hasnt been bought yet so its not a problem .
