Noob Q: 4 sticks in 6 slots

Hey guys. I don't know much about this so I thought I'd ask you guys 😛

If I use 4 identical sticks of RAM in a 6-slot board, will I only get the benefit of 3?

Well if you have a 6 slot board that means you must have a board that uses triple channel ram . In order for them to operate at full triple channel speed you need to have 3 sticks placed in the slots of the same color or all 6 filled. So you will get to use all your ram, but it will operate at a lower speed.
