Hi there

I've ordered memory for my first pc build, and want to make sure I've got the right thing.

I have ordered Corsair Memory TWIN2X2048-6400C4 2x1GB 240-Pin DIMM XMS2-6400 CL4

Motherboard Specs says the following (Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R)

4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR2 1066*/800/667 MHz memory modules

there is also a pdf file on there site (Memory support list) http://giga-byte.co.uk/FileList/MemorySupport/motherboard_memory_ga-p35c-ds3r_2.0.pdf

below is a bit of it

the bit where it say CM2X 1024-6400C4 and i've ordered the 2X2048-6400C4, is it the same memory
and the 1024 and the 2048 just mean the total amount or are these different modules?

also what does SS/DS and CL4 mean?

Don't worry about that list. It's a list of memory tested to be compatible with the board by Gigabyte. It does NOT mean other ram won't work. They will as long as they're the same tech & the bios is set up right.

SS = single sided
DS = double sided

A ram stick may have only 1 side or 2 sides of chips.

CL4 is CAS Latency 4. It's a memory timing. The smaller, the faster & more expensive.

Hi

Just got email to say my order is on it way, but looking at the list, I've noticed I made a small mistake when selecting the memory, what I have actually ordered is Corsair 2x1GB 240DIMM XMS2-6400 CL5 instead of the C4 version.

Is there a big difference between the C4 & C5 ?

Also Looking on corsair site, the say the memory (quote" Tested at 5-5-5-12-2T Latency settings at 19v")
where my motherboard says 4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets.

Sorry for asking daft questions, but I know **** about memory.
